“I appreciate you training me, Officer Lexie.” Llun stated as they adjusted the padding on their hands. The training gear was designed to lessen the impact of a punch. The SOAP issued training gear felt a little odd on their body but they did not complain.
“Just Lexie is fine.” The rabbit officer agreed to help this rookie on their first official days as an agent. Llun was a member of a species that only just joined the GCPD, and their knowledge of other kinds of life were limited. The Aescans had a lot of adjusting to enter in. Lexie had full sparring gear on as well, including padding on his head, fists, and groin. Lexie found the best way to gauge a potential partner was to engage in a sparring match. “Don't hold back, come at me like I am a dangerous criminal.”
Lexie assumed a fighting stance, shifting his weight more to one leg as he prepared for whatever move his partner would make. Llun kept a straight face even while he threw out a quick jab. The lepus had read that Llun’s species expressed emotions in extremely subtle facial movements that would be invisible to an outsider. This worked well in this sparring match, the lack of a facial tell helped to mask their intent. The rabbit continued on the defense, impressed by their hand to hand skills even if it felt somewhat robotic with how methodical it was.
Llun threw a harder punch aimed at the rabbit’s face, but Lexie caught the blow, turning his body and throwing his hip to toss the stone faced alien over his shoulder. He was expecting them to hit the mat hard, but Llun caught themselves and landed gracefully and launched a counter attacking punch that knocked the wind out of Lexie. Taking a stumbling step back the rabbit dropped his guard. Llun kept on the offensive and kicked out to hit him again in the chest. While his foot did make contact with Lexie’s fur it was held firm by the rabbit, who pulled it back further. The Aescan’s stance became awkward and wide as he struggled to stay upright.
Lexie kicked his foot upward with a blinding quickness, aiming it right between Llun’s spread legs. He stopped right before impact, but the wind of the strike ruffled the alien’s clothes.
“That would have been my victory.” Lexie stated as he let go of his partner’s leg. “You have a good grasp on the basics, but you'll need to learn to improvise and adapt.”
Llun tilted their head. “The strike would have hurt, sir, but it would not have been enough to shatter my pelvis.”
“Maybe, yes, but your bits would have been busted.” Lexie was unsure of Llun’s gender, but anyone's genitals would have been screaming in pain from a hard enough kick.
The pale alien’s brow furrowed at this, only ever so slightly. After a moment they raised a finger, trying to signal they understood. “You speak of the genitals ? Aescans do not possess them, we have no organs between our legs.”
“Nothing at all? Is that why you prefer to use they them pronouns?” Lexie asked, picking up a water bottle.
“Preference has nothing to do with it, it's just grammatically correct. In truth you may refer to me by any gender if it makes you more comfortable. Such concepts are foreign to me. Even wearing clothing that serves no practical use is strange to me, but I know it makes others more comfortable.” Llun tugged on their shirt to emphasize the point. “Back to the point, you have not won yet.”
With that Lexie gulped down a swig and tossed the bottle aside. With a smirk he walked back to finish the fight, thinking this rookie would turn out good.
A few days later Llun was in their S.O.A.P. uniform with Lexie. The two rode together on his space bike, the spot usually taken by Buster, Lexie’s AI companion, was empty as the robot was in for maintenance. The rabbit was on patrol in a mega city, chosen for it having an average crime rate and perfect to test the new species. Lexie was driving with the Aescan holding onto his hips from behind.
“What made you want to join the GPD?” Lexie asked, never taking his eyes off the road.
“I was a peace officer on my home planet. Protecting and serving is my calling and being able to do so on a greater scale is all the better.”
The rabbit wanted to ask more, but stopped when his sensitive ears twitched. He could hear someone calling out in an alleyway. Lexie pulled up, parking and squinting his eyes to peer between the darkened space between towering buildings. He could not see anything, save for the towering concrete all around him. It disturbed him more that this area was lifeless and devoid of any foot traffic. Once more the cry for help was heard.
“You're in charge, rookie, I'm just supervising.
Llum was already reporting their approximate location to HQ on their wrist monitor and making their way off the bike. “We investigate.”
While the rabbit himself got annoyed when people would steal a glance at his crotch when he's on the job, but he couldn't help himself. The skin tight blue material clung to the Aescan’s crotch and showed that they indeed had nothing to hide down there. Snapping his eyes off his temporary partner’s crotch he went back to scanning the alley. They could see the shape of a humanoid laying face down deeper within. It was crumpled on the ground with a repeated feeble cry of “Help me.”
Lexie reached out and turned the body around, seeing it was a mannequin with an audio playing device tapped to its mouth.
“Look out sir!” Llun shouted from behind.
Lexie heard a heavy step behind him and only had enough time to cover his head with his arms. A crushing impact was felt and the rabbit fell to the ground, skull ringing and vision blurred.
Llun pulled their side arm and pointed it at the attacker, but it was hit from their hand with a metallic thud as a metal bar impacted the weapon. A large gray meaty fist swung next, hitting the smaller pale alien off their feet. Lexie blinked his eyes and his vision focused enough to see a massive figure looming over him. It reached down and grabbed him by the scruff of his neck to lift him up.
“I look familiar, pig?” The figure growled. It had pure gray skin, stood twice as tall as the rabbit and dressed in cut leather vest and jeans. His voice was deep and threatening and had large shiny black eyes with a small mouth to contrast his big head. He didn't wait for Lexie to answer.
“My sister was going to break out of jail and you had to go and stop her!” He shouted as he moved his hands around the rabbit’s neck. “Even went and kicked her crotch, gonna hurt you real bad for that.”
The massive gray man’s hands tightened around Lexie’s neck. He gasped for air and dug his hands into his attacker’s wrists to try and pry them off, but his grip was hard as iron. He could feel his consciousness fading fast as he lost the ability to breath.
Suddenly the alien’s grip loosened. Lexie looked down and saw that Llun’s foot was buried in the gray man’s crotch. One of his testicles clearly took the brunt of the attack, the tight jeans offering only to hold the delicate organs in place. Using this distraction the rabbit kicked his legs against the criminal’s body and broke free. Lexie crumpled to his knees and coughed, but picked himself up fast. The gray held his wounded balls, but stood upright. He spun and swung an angry fist at his kicker. Llun dodged easily. Even with a small trickle of blue blood dripping from their nostrils their face remained emotionless.
Llun moved between clumsy hits easily. Compared to the speed of their superior officer this criminal was practically moving in slow motion. It was after another failed hit the Aescan made their counter attack. They ducked down low, and swung their fist upward. Their hard knuckle dug into the tender flesh of his testicles. In that brief moment it felt like Llun was experiencing something brand new, seeing the much larger opponent cry out in agony from just one hit, knowing that this point of vulnerability could be exploited so easily. Once more the pale alien punched out and felt his fist hit the other ball. It was then that their face split into a wide grin.
“Move rookie!” Lexie shouted. The rabbit hopped up and flung himself at the gray from behind. He was enough to knock the giant over onto his belly. Quickly he moved to twist the gray’s arms behind his back and slapped a pair of magnetic handcuffs on his wrist. The ballbusting and tackle had stunned him for a moment but he quickly regained his senses and began to pull on the cuffs. They were a pair of metal clamps that when activated would magnetize and hold together. The large man’s muscles strained and much to the rabbits' shock the cuffs began to separate.
Llun saw this too. The pale alien moved between the large man’s legs and grabbed hold of one of his testicles, squeezing it tight.
“Fuck!” The gray screamed, strength leaving his arms. The device held firm now, snapping back together. Llun kept up the pressure, smile widening, feeling the power they now held over this criminal. They could feel the delicate organ start to compress inside of their hand.
“Easy rookie, we got them.” Lexie barked out.
With that Llun quickly let go, remembering their place as a peace officer. They stood up and moved to their wrist communicator to report the incident.
The gray was soon loaded up in a police truck usually designed for multiple perps.
“Sir I am so sorry, I got carried away.” The Aescan said with head bowed. Their face actually did show some embarrassment.
Lexie waved a hand. “Heat of battle gets the best of us, just keep a cooler head next time.” He rubbed the back of his skull, happy there was no blood. “If it wasn't for your warning my head may have been cracked open like an egg.”
Llun stood up straight, putting on a forced smile to try and express the gratitude they felt.
“You'll make a good SOAP officer, Llun. In fact I think you should look into giving out warnings for speeding violations.”
“What do you mean, sir?”
“Read the penal code. Trust me on it.”
